Lime kiln is a kind of equipment used to produce lime, usually adopting high temperature calcination to burn limestone and other raw materials into lime for the construction, metallurgy, chemical industry and other industries. According to the different furnace type, lime kilns have vertical kiln, rotary kiln, sleeve kiln, double chamber kiln, Maerz kiln (Switzerland), Focas kiln (Italy) and so on.

Due to the influence of high temperature thermal shock, mechanical wear, structural stress and chemical erosion, harsh use conditions, The lime kiln lining requires the refractory materials must have have good chemical erosion resistance, excellent high temperature volume stability and the integrity of the masonry, good thermal shock stability, good mechanical erosion resistance and wear resistance.
Due to more furnace types, different furnaces are equipped with different refractories, commonly used refractory are: anti-spalling high alumina bricks, phosphate high alumina bricks, mullite bricks, silica mullite bricks, magnesia-aluminum spinel bricks and so on.
